The Liguria region continues to hold the lead with a total of 34 awarded locations, despite the loss of two flags and the addition of two new entries. Following is Puglia, which gains three new locations and loses one, bringing the total to 24. Campania and Calabria rank right after, both with 20 awarded locations, each recording an increase of one flag. Marche celebrates the addition of a new municipality among its awarded locations, reaching 19 Blue Flags, while Tuscany drops to 18 after losing one municipality. Sardinia and Abruzzo maintain their respective 15 locations, with the latter seeing the addition of a new municipality. With three new entries, Sicily reaches 14, while Trentino Alto Adige climbs to 12, thanks to the addition of two municipalities. Lazio remains stable at 10, and both Emilia Romagna and Veneto confirm 9 locations each. Basilicata and Piemonte each keep their 5 locations, and Lombardia confirms 3. Friuli Venezia Giulia and Molise remain steady with 2 locations each. For lake destinations, the number of Blue Flags rises to 23, with two new additions.

The newly recognized municipalities in 2024 include Ortona in Abruzzo, Parghelia in Calabria, Cellole in Campania, Borgio Verezzi and Recco in Liguria, Porto Sant'Elpidio in Marche, Lecce, Manduria, and Patù in Puglia, and Letojanni, Scicli, and Taormina in Sicily, along with Tenno and Vallelaghi in Trentino Alto Adige. Conversely, Ameglia and Taggia in Liguria, Margherita di Savoia in Puglia, and Marciana Marina in Tuscany did not have their flags reconfirmed.

The significance of the recognition is highlighted by the efforts of municipal administrations in land management and tourism promotion, adhering to the 32 criteria established and periodically updated by Fee Italia, aimed at enhancing environmental and territorial management.
